Signs/Symptoms of UCL Tear
-
Pain and tenderness on the medial aspect of the elbow.

A popping, tearing, or pulling sensation felt or heard during time of injury.

Swelling and ecchymosis on the medial aspect of the elbow in anatomical position.

Inability to straighten the elbow, stiffness, compromised range of motion.
-
Inability to throw with injured extremity, due to pain and decrease in accuracy of throw.

Paresthesia of 4th and 5th digits on injured side.

Our athlete's symptoms were:

A crack/pop was hear at time of injury

Mild to moderate swelling in themedial elbow and in the ulnar groove.

Point tender over the UCL and medial epicondyle.
-
Decrease range of motion due to swelling.
-
Pain with flexion & extension at the end ranges.
-
Decreased grip strength.
